Liguori: "A pediatric hospice to fill a human void."

The call for a pediatric hospice can no longer be postponed. During the meeting of the Third Council Committee, which unanimously approved the Regional Plan to Strengthen Palliative Care, Councilor Simona Liguori (Patto per l'Autonomia-Civica FVG) reiterated the urgent need to create a place of care and support for children and families. "The pediatric hospice is a concrete response to a real need," she emphasized, noting that the Region has already allocated €800,000 in 2021. Liguori cited the large turnout—over 400 people—at the recent charity gala organized by the Brusutti Foundation in Piazza Unità d'Italia as evidence of widespread awareness. "That success," she said, "demonstrates how much the community feels the need for this service." The councilor then asked for updates on the possibility of administering hospital medications at home to alleviate terminal suffering and drew attention to the importance of protecting healthcare workers from the risk of burnout.
